The Risk Analysis tab in Waterfall Project Settings equips you with tools to proactively monitor, quantify, and visualize project risks. By leveraging this feature, you can assess the overall health of your project and address potential issues before they escalate.
Step 1: Access the Risk Analysis Tab
Navigate to your Waterfall project.
Open Project Settings and select the Risk Analysis tab.
Step 2: Review Current Risk Stats
Blockers: Shows the count of critical issues halting project progress.
Risks: Displays the number of identified potential threats.
Issues: Indicates problems that may impact project delivery.
Tasks: Lists the total number of tasks factored into risk calculations.
These real-time stats offer a clear snapshot of your project’s risk landscape.
Step 3: Adjust Weight Settings
Assign numerical weights to each risk type:
Risk: Default is 3.
Issue: Default is 7.
Blocker: Default is 20.
Modify these values as needed to reflect your organization’s risk strategy.
Higher weights mean a greater impact on the project’s health score.
Step 4: Set Health Color Boundaries
Define thresholds for visual health indicators:
Green Upper Boundary: Max score for “Healthy” status (default is 4).
Yellow Upper Boundary: Max score for “At Risk” status (default is 15).
Any score above the yellow boundary is “Critical” (Red).
These boundaries let you instantly interpret risk status with color-coded results.
Step 5: Interpret the Health Result
The system calculates a weighted sum of risks, issues, and blockers.
A visual indicator (Green, Yellow, or Red) displays your project’s current health status based on this score.
Step 6: Use Actions for Risk Management
Test Rules: Simulate different risk scenarios and see how changes affect the health result.
Reset to Defaults: Restore all settings to their original values.
Save: Apply your changes to the risk analysis configuration.
Tips
Regularly review and adjust weights and boundaries to ensure alignment with evolving project needs.
Use the Test Rules feature to anticipate the impact of potential risks before they occur.
