Tag decisions, status reports, risks, blockers, requirements, and feedback in threads

Label conversations in Messaging so decisions, updates, and risks are easy to find and filter.

Tag a conversation with what it is, so a decision, a status report, or a risk can be found later instead of being buried in chat.

The tags

There are ten tags: Meeting Notes, Status Report, Project Scope, Decision, Requirement, Solution, Issue, Risk, Blocker, and Feedback.

What you need

  • Membership in the project. Project channels live in Messaging.

Steps

Tag a new conversation

  1. In Messaging, pick the project under Projects and choose the + button (Start a new conversation).
  2. Under Conversation Type, choose one tag. A tag is required.
  3. Enter a Subject / Topic, optionally add a body, and send.

Change a tag

  1. Open the conversation to show its thread.
  2. Edit the first message from Message options.
  3. In Tag As, choose another tag and Save. Only the author can edit the message.

Find tagged conversations

  1. In a project channel, choose Filter by Tag in the header.
  2. Pick a tag. The list shows only conversations with that tag; choose the filter again to show all.
  3. In a task or issue thread, use By Tag to filter that thread.

Expected result

The conversation shows a tag badge in the list and in its thread.

Tips

  • Status updates you post from a task or issue (the Post status update option) are tagged Status Report automatically.
  • Ask the assistant to post a note to a project, task, or issue and name the tag, for example Decision or Risk. The result card shows the tag it used. See Use message threads.
  • Suggested use: Decision for a settled choice, Risk or Blocker for something that needs attention, Status Report for progress, Meeting Notes for capture. A thread tagged Risk or Blocker is a conversation; to track the item itself, log it as an issue. See Track issues, risks, and blockers.

Troubleshooting

  • I cannot change a tag: only the person who wrote the first message can edit it.
  • I cannot tag a message in a task thread: messages written in the task or issue thread box are not tagged; use a status update, a Messaging conversation, or ask the assistant.
